Baking is not just a culinary endeavor; it is an art form that weaves together creativity, precision, and a touch of magic. For children, baking can be both an educational and joyous experience, offering a multitude of benefits. Truly, our baking classes for kids go well beyond providing second language exposure in a fun and authentic way: they are the perfect opportunity to introduce the young and curious to the enchanting world of baking, fostering skills that will last a lifetime.

Why baking classes for kids?
We provide a safe and structured environment where children can learn the basics of baking in French. Our classes teach essential kitchen skills, safety, and hygiene practices. Moreover, they help develop fine motor skills, improve math and reading abilities, and encourage teamwork and cooperation.
Skill Development
- Motor Skills: Measuring ingredients, stirring, kneading dough, and decorating baked goods enhance children’s hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
- Math and Science: Baking also introduces children to measurements, fractions, basic scientific principles, and a lot more- making learning interactive and enjoyable.
- Reading and Comprehension: Certainly, following recipes helps improve reading skills in the second language and understanding of sequencing and instructions.
- Creativity: Finally, decorating pies, cakes or cookies allows kids to express their artistic abilities and imagination. Be sure to check out some of our recent creations below or on our social media pages!
Social Interaction
Last but not least, baking in a group setting encourages children to work together, take turns, and share. Indeed it fosters a true sense of community and enhances their social skills. Besides, children learn to communicate effectively, collaborate on tasks, and celebrate each other’s successes.

Class structure
Our baking classes for kids are typically designed to be engaging and age-appropriate. For this reason, children work in small age groups: this helps us ensure that the activities are suitable for the participants’ developmental stages. The classes typically follow a structured format:
Introduction and Safety Briefing
The session begins with an introduction to the day’s recipe and a safety briefing. Children are taught the importance of hygiene, kitchen safety rules; and the correct way to handle equipment and ingredients.
Hands-On Baking
The core of the class involves hands-on baking activities. At this stage, we guide children through each step of the recipe, from measuring and mixing to baking and decorating. Our bilingual instructors provide individual attention, and make sure that each child is engaged and learning.
Baking Classes for Kids: Learning Through Play
Fun games and activities are incorporated to the session to make the learning process enjoyable. Moreover, we frequently use visual cues or flashcards to consolidate the vocabulary used during the session. Finally, activities may also include baking-themed puzzles, quizzes, or storytelling sessions.
Sharing and Tasting
At the end of the class, children get to bring their creations home. If there is enough time, they can get a taste of their freshly baked goods before they leave. Needless to say, a chance to present their parents or siblings with the pastry they have made from scratch not only gives them a sense of pride and accomplishment; but it also teaches them the joy of sharing and appreciating others’ efforts.

Benefits beyond the kitchen
But the benefits of baking classes for kids extend well beyond the kitchen. Our sessions instill life skills and values that are crucial for personal development.
Confidence and Independence
Making pastry from scratch boosts children’s confidence and gives them a sense of independence. They feel very proud of their achievements and they are motivated to try new things.
Hands-On Baking
Baking requires patience, from waiting for the dough to rise to watching the oven timer. As a result, children learn the value of patience and the rewards of perseverance. However, we also do our best to keep them busy and engaged during baking time 😉
Baking Classes for Kids Promote Healthy Eating Habits
Participating in baking classes can also encourage children to develop healthy eating habits. They learn about different ingredients, new scents and flavors. They learn about the importance of balanced meals, and the joys of making homemade food.
